CDSA Bowletariats Raise $10,380 for Abortion Access

Posted By | Categories Latest News

The CDSA Bowletariats seized the means of reproduction and raised $10,380 (so far*) for this year’s National Abortion Access Bowl-a-Thon! The Bowl-a-Thon is a nationwide series of local and virtual events that allow individuals and teams to raise funds for their local abortion fund. The Bowletariats raised funds for the Chicago Abortion Fund (CAF), which has provided financial support to people in the Midwest needing assistance paying for an abortion for over 30 years.

As the anti-choice movement threatens abortion access online and as abortion rights are under attack in places like Indiana, Kentucky, Iowa, Mississippi, and Louisiana (to name a few), we must be be unequivocal in our support of bodily autonomy, abortion rights, and reproductive justice. Abortion is one of the safest medical procedures. It is health care that everyone should have access to. As CAF’s mission states, “We boldly affirm a person’s right to choose whether to parent or not and that right should not be determined because of age, race, marital status – and most importantly, economic status.  We support reproductive justice.” Our Bowletariats Bowlers couldn’t agree more and are already looking forward to next year’s Bowl-a-Thon!

*There are still a few days left to get a last minute donation in, and donations through April 30 will be matched!

Update: As of May 8, 2018, the Bowletariats’ team total reached $10,773, CAF raised $58,580, and the National Network of Abortion Funds total reached $2,003,903.02!
