This Week in the CDSA (July 1 – July 8)

Good Morning Chicago DSA,

I’m feeling particularly grand this morning, and I hope you are as well. I’ve got this sense of centered contentedness that usually only comes with things like: a newly organized closet, turning the last page on a good book, or looking out from a mountain vista after a good hard hike. In this particular case, however, it’s come from voting in new bylaws and chapter leadership with over a hundred of my comrades, everybody taking part in democracy. For those of you unable to make the Chapter Convention yesterday, we had an excellent and productive meeting filled with debate and parliamentary proceedings and solidarity and even some snacks too. And at the end of it all, we came out with newly elected leaders and bylaws. Huge congratulations to Lucie Macias and Joe Altura for becoming our Co-chair and Secretary respectfully, and to Ramsin Canon for his re-election as our Political Education officer. I’m looking forward to the places you’ll help take CDSA in the next year. I’d also like to extend a huge thanks to everybody that was involved not only with organizing the meeting but who helped write and edit the bylaws. It was such a good experience all around. You’re all amazing!

We’ve got a well-scheduled week ahead of us. If you’re free on Friday, I highly encourage you to break out your Abolish Ice signs and check out the Stop Gary Deportations protest. We have buses, so don’t worry if you don’t have a car to get you there! You can find the registration information for that below.

If you’ve been wavering and on-the-fence about gettting more involved with DSA, now is the time! With a huge win from Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, we’ve never had as much momentum and energy as an organization as we do now. But we need you’re help if we want to keep winning 🙂 I’ll see you out there, comrades!
