Good Morning Chicago DSA,
If you’re one of my many loyal (aka somewhat involuntary) readers, you may notice that the TWITCDSA email looks a little different than it normally does. Not only does it now have some fancy images but the email address is different too. That’s because it’s being sent out with Action Network instead of the normal listserv. We’re making some changes to how CDSA communicates via email. There will be an official announcement with more information about that soon so be on the lookout.
For some of you, this may be your first time receiving this email. This is most likely the case if you signed up for a CDSA membership but, for some reason or another, never got added to the CDSA listserv. If that’s the case, then welcome aboard!! This is just a weekly CDSA announcements and events email that I send out every Sunday morning. Congratulations on becoming one of my many loyal readers.
We’ve got a pretty good schedule ahead of us this week. In particular, I’d recommend checking out the SocFem 101 training that’s happening on Saturday, hosted by our hard working comrades in the Socialist Feminist Working Group. You can find all the info on that event and the rest of our excellent meetings and actions below.
I’ll see you out there, comrades 🙂

This month’s Rapid Response meeting will be a week later due to scheduling conflicts, but we’re hoping folks come out to help us plan our alert system and work on chapter security! We got some fascist threats at the Constitutional Convention, and we’re growing all the time, so we need to be prepared. Come out and help keep your comrades safe!

Join DSA Housing Working Group for our first ever Northside rent control canvass! We are working with United Neighbors 35 and Somos Logan Square to gather signatures to get Lift the Ban on the ballot for the 35th ward! We will hold a short canvassing training at 11am before we hit the doors to talk to our neighbors about rent control.
- Socialist Feminism 101; 2 PM – 4 PM; Manning Branch Library; 6 S. Hoyne Ave.
To help educate our chapter membership on socialist feminism and the ways that socialist feminist perspectives can aid in our organizing, the Socialist Feminist Working Group is conducting an educational event entitled “Socialist Feminism 101.” This event will focus on making the theory and practice behind socialist feminism accessible to chapter members who may not have any theoretical or experiential background in the subject. It will be a “crash course,” introducing the essential concepts of socialist feminist theory and praxis. The event is open to all chapter and community members, but is particularly geared towards people who have no background in socialist feminism (especially cisgender men!) who can benefit from learning the advantages of socialist feminist approaches in our organizing, our chapter administration, and our daily lives. If you are interested in attending, feel free to come with questions for our question and answer session, “Everything you ever wanted to know about socialist feminism but were afraid to ask!”
The meeting venue is wheelchair accessible, light refreshments will be provided, and we are planning on offering childcare. We are dedicated to making this event as accessible as possible, so attendees interested in childcare or who need any other type of accommodations should please contact us in advance!

- Talkin’ Socialism Podcast – Electoralism
We spoke to (very busy) CDSA Electoral Working co-chair Ada Vargas. First, a discussion of the recent action at Gary International Airport that stopped deportation flights for the day. Then, some talk on the election of Alexandria Ocasio Cortez means for Chicago politics, particularly the 2019 Aldermanic and Mayoral elections.
If I missed an event or bulletin board item, please let me know ASAP at cdsacomms@gmail.com
