To build and maintain the various lines of communication, both external and internal, of Chicago DSA.
What We Do
The Communications Committee handles a broad range of projects and responsibilities that keep CDSA running smoothly. We run the various CDSA social media pages (if you love to post, hit us up). We have a video team who do a lot of good work with livestreaming and recording various CDSA campaigns and events. We have a podcast that covers a broad range of topics from a socialist perspective. We have tech group that helps maintain and develop the technological frameworks of the CDSA. And we have an excellent newsletter, Midwest Socialist, that provides essays and news from the various DSA chapters in the Midwest region and hosts the aforementioned podcast. In addition to all of that, we also run the occasional communications training and have recently started holding monthly New Member Happy Hours.
Our Leadership Structure
The Comms Committee is currently led by a Leadership Committee. The Committee has two co-chairs, Zach Shearer and Amy G., and a number of Team Leaders in charge of the various sub-groups within the working group. The members of the Leadership Committee were all elected for 1 year terms.
You can learn more about our working group by reading our Mission Statement and Bylaws which we passed April, 2018.
We’re always looking to get new members involved in the Communications Committee! There’s plenty of work to be done (as you can tell from the What We Do section) and if you’re willing and have time to offer, we’d be glad to have you. If you’re experienced and have skills that apply to any of our projects, even better! Specifically, Midwest Socialist is always looking for people to produce episodes or write pieces. And we’re also in need of people who are social media saavy and would be willing to help with the CDSA Insta and Twitter pages. Really though, if you’re interested in helping out with any of our projects, we can find a way for you to help out! Just come to one of our monthly Monday meetings that you can find on the calendar or shoot an email to the address listed below.
Please reach out to firstname.lastname@example.org with any questions about getting involved.
