Socialist Night School: Commodification of Health Care
May 16 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
It’s been a great second semester for our new Socialist Night School. We’ve covered labor and class, social reproduction, neoliberalism, and ecosocialism. For our fifth and final class of the spring semester, we’ll be covering Marx, Medicare for All, and Commodification of Health Care.
The last class of our Spring Semester will be on Thursday, May 16th at 7PM at the UE Hall, 37 S Ashland Avenue.*
The readings for the class can be found here.
For this last class we’ll be discussing Marx and the idea of “commodification”–how labor and necessities turn into things to be sold for profit–and health care as healing instead of a profit center. We’ll also be discussing our chapter and DSA’s work on Medicare for All and health care justice.
If you’re interested in attending, please RSVP here.
Additional readings include:
Edmund Pellegrino, The Commodification of Medical and Health Care (Full Excerpt)
