Solidarity Economy Working Group

March 20 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Solidarity. Equity In All Dimensions. Participatory Democracy. Sustainability. Pluralism. These are the five principles used by the US Solidarity Economy Network to define the solidarity economy.

Solidarity is a cohesion developed in the course of common struggle. A solidarity economy is how we build a parallel economic infrastructure in the present which aligns with our vision of a more free, democratic, and humane society that serves people in ways extractive capitalism can not and will not.

At this month’s meeting, we will:

–Revisit the mission, vision, and core values of the Working Group

–Review the recently released solidarity economy survey to determine what the public would like to see from the Working Group https://goo.gl/forms/l4hp9UohJPjkwK2C3

–recap recent developments in Chicago’s solidarity economy landscape

–discuss potential campaigns and initiatives to be developed by the Working Group

–brainstorm popular education projects to grow the public understanding of a solidarity economy We’re meeting at Harold Washington Library 5th Floor South
