Solidarity Economy Working Group at CCEC Convening

October 17, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 8:30 pm

Solidarity. Equity In All Dimensions. Participatory Democracy. Sustainability. Pluralism. These are the five principles used by the US Solidarity Economy Network to define the solidarity economy. Solidarity is a cohesion developed in the course of common struggle. A solidarity economy is how we build a parallel economic infrastructure in the present which aligns with our vision of a more free, democratic, and humane society that serves people in ways extractive capitalism can not and will not. At this month’s meeting, we will join the inaugural convening of the Chicagoland Cooperative Ecosystem Coalition (CCEC). This gathering was announced during the Cooperative Economy Summit and its organizers hope to begin developing an intentional space to build, strengthen, and connect Chicagoland’s worker cooperative ecosystem. Bring your questions, interest, and skills to this intersection of solidarity economy organizing. Please register your attendance with the Coordinating Committee so that they know how many people to anticipate. https://www.eventbrite.com/e/chicagoland-cooperative-ecosystem-coalition-ccec-tickets-50675633183 We’re meeting at 237 South Desplaines Street.
