Solidarity Economy Working Group Meeting

November 21 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

Solidarity. Equity In All Dimensions. Participatory Democracy. Sustainability. Pluralism. These are the five principles used by the US Solidarity Economy Network to define the solidarity economy.

Solidarity is a cohesion developed in the course of common struggle. A solidarity economy is how we build a parallel economic infrastructure in the present which aligns with our vision of a more free, democratic, and humane society that serves people in ways extractive capitalism can not and will not.

At this month’s meeting, we will:

–revisit SEWG governance structure and roles
–share readings that will grow the groups understanding of solidarity economy
–brainstorm popular education projects to grow the public understanding of solidarity economy
–recap Chicago Cooperative Ecosystem Coalition gathering and discuss options for SEWG engagement

We’re meeting at Harold Washington Library 6th Floor South
